Pipe-Fitter / Welder

This is a permanent role – no contractors please.

Do you have TIG Welding Experience? Do you have experience working with thin wall stainless steel dairy tube and (SS) schedule tube? Are you happy to travel throughout the UK? Then we may have the job for you!

Due to growth, we are expanding and are looking for PipeFitter/Welders to join our team.

What will you do?

  • Prepare vessels and equipment for NDT inspection.
  • Provide technical and troubleshooting support for mechanical matters, including breakdowns.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and review of site-wide maintenance programmes and procedures.
  • Assist with the control and coordination of spare parts and the optimisation of stock levels associated with pipefitting welding.
  • Work safely and within the requirements of all SSV RAMS using hygienic stainless steel dairy tube and schedule welding,
  • Comply with safe work systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping throughout any work area.
  • Report unsafe situations or occurrences.
  • Provide guidance, support and training to junior team members.

What hours will you be working?

This role is predominantly Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week working between 08:00 – 17:00 however, some flexibility is required when visiting customer sites.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?

  • Ideally three years plus experience within pipe fitting/welding/fabrication
  • TIG Welding experience. Nearly all of our work is hygienic stainless steel dairy tube welding for the brewing industry so it is imperative you have experience and that you can weld to a hygienic standard.
  • You’ll be able to work with a thin wall stainless steel dairy tube and (SS) schedule tube.
  • Plan pipe and service routes to provide a hygienic and efficient pip design which is also aesthetically pleasing too.
  • Ability to read and understand pipework schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Confined space trained.
  • MEWP/FLT experience.
  • Ideally qualified to BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017 including 111,114 for arc welding; 143,145 TIG welding; with 131 MIG welding being desirable.
  • Experience for primarily carbon and stainless steels grades in butt and fillet welds with or without filler materials from groups FM1, FM2 and for a range of pipe diameters from 25mm to 300mm and for fillets from 0.8 mm to 12m in all positions PA,PC,PE,PF,PG (6G) would definitely be an advantage.
  • You will need to be able to conduct visual testing of welds as per ISO 17637.
  • Mechanical fitting experience is an advantage.
  • Must have a UK driving licence and not more than 6 penalty points.

  • You must have the ability to carry out physical and demanding work.
  • You will be methodical in your approach to work, with a strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Keen eye for detail, able to identify issues and escalate appropriately,
  • Able to make considered decisions and communicate to relevant colleagues whilst working well under pressure to deadline..
  • The ability to plan and manage your own time and responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Be responsible for yourself and others to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and train less experienced colleagues.
  • You will be able to spend extended periods away from home on sites across the UK initially and Europe in the future. For the most part up to 5 days at a time but on occasion weekends are also required.
