Electrical Design Engineer

We are looking to appoint an experienced multi-disciplined Electrical Design Engineer.

What will you do?

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop electrical systems for stainless steel vessels and process equipment.
  • Create detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for electrical designs.
  • Select and source electrical components and materials while adhering to cost and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in prototype testing and validation of electrical systems.
  • Provide technical support to the production and installation teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during the manufacturing and commissioning phases.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in electrical design.

What hours will you be working?

This role is predominantly Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week working between 08:30 – 17:30.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?

  • Proven experience in electrical design, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for electrical design (Draftsight, AutoCAD etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with industrial controls and process equipment design is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of 400V AC three-phase circuits & 24V DC control circuits.
  • Knowledge of networking including Profinet.
  • Experience working with variable-speed drives for motors & pumps.
  • Siemens PLC & HMI familiarity is a bonus.
  • Role-related experience and be trained either through a time-served apprenticeship, HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • You’ll have the ability to learn quickly and work methodically under your own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team. 
  • Our work involves client meetings, conference calls and discussions so good personal and presentation skills are important.
  • With an ability to travel, plan, manage and prioritise own workload to meet defined deadlines.
  • You’ll also need a full UK driving licence as you will be travelling as part of your role.
